Hello!  My very first blog post.  I decided today to try to journal more regularly, and this blog just may be my way to do it.

I was really moved today during the talks at church.  Our first speaker spoke on the power of prayer.  She told of the experience of Elder Russell M. Nelson when he was still a practicing heart surgeon.  A man had been told he had 2 heart valve problems.  One could be fixed, one could not.  After being told by several different heart surgeons that they would not operate on him, he approached then Dr. Nelson.  He told him he felt Heavenly Father would tell him what to do to repair his heart valve.  Even while preparing for surgery, Dr. Nelson didn't know how he would approach the second valve.  He repaired the first one, then saw in his mind exactly how to fix the "unrepairable" valve, down to dotted lines that showed exactly where the stitches should be placed.  The process has since been used to repair other valves with the same problem. 

Our second speaker was a member of the Stake Presidency.  President Dixon spoke on developing a testimony.  He quoted the scripture Doctrine and Covenents 18:15-16:  And if it so be that you should labor all your days . . . and bring save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father.  And now, fi your joy will be great with one soul that you have broungt unto me into the kingdom of my Father, how great will be your joy if you shouuld bring many souls unto me!"  He went on to say that even if that one soul be your own, you will be joyful. 

These two speakers really touched my heart.  I hope to keep these thought to help become more in tune with the Spirit.

Tomorrow, Monday, will be our first day back to school for the coming school year.  I am really excited about having purchased 3 Kindles for the high school.  The middle school principal has suggested we might do the same for the students there.  I want to wait a few months to see how things work out with the high school students.  Also, I will be at the middle school more this year than I was last year.  I spent last year kind of getting used to working with the older students.  This year, I hope to work with all the students in both schools to show them some of the cool things they can do in the library.  I don't quite know how to get them to not use the computers only for gaming.  There is so much more available to them.  We will see, we will see.
